“Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.” (Psalm 33:8 NASB)
“Let them praise the name of the LORD, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above earth and heaven.” (Psalm 148:13 NASB)
God is so holy! He’s such an awesome God! Oh, that we would reverence Him as such! I want to be in awe of God every time I think about Him. I want to be in wonder of His greatness each time I think about Him! He’s so incredible!! Just the thought of Him should blow our minds. Just thinking about God, our King, our Savior, our Deliverer, should take our breath away!! I want to be in awe of our great God every day! I want to be in awe of Him! Think about our God who created everything, who took care of everything! Our great God left nothing out when He created everything! Our God took care of all the details before He made us and all He requires from us is to reverence Him. He wants us to honor Him. He wants us to be obedient to Him. He wants us to praise Him and worship Him!
After all He has done, after all that He does, after all He is going to do, we, His creation, should at least reverence His matchless name! What does it mean to reverence our God? It means to respect, show admiration, be in awe, astonishment, and be amazed by Jehovah. That’s the least we can do!
It’s strange to me that all other creation worships God no matter what. They continuously worship Him. The birds worship Him. The animals and sea creatures worship Him. The moon, the sun, the stars, and the trees all praise Jehovah God (Psalm 148). The flowers show forth His glory, but we, God’s prize possessions, those who were made in His own image, don’t praise and worship Him enough. Awful! We, His children, have to have a reason to worship our great and glorious God! It has to be the right time of day, the right season in our lives before we can worship Him. We have to hear our favorite song before we can praise Him. All has to be well in order to give our magnificent God the praise He deserves, let alone worship Him.
Why is that? He’s the Creator! Why do we need to have reasons to praise Him? After all that God has done for us, why does our praises have to be predicated by what is happening around us? Why does your worship have to be based upon how you are feeling? Why is my reverence to God determined by what’s going on around me? Why not praise God just because! Why not honor and worship Jehovah just because He’s Jehovah?
Today, my sister, praise, worship, honor, reverence, magnify, and glorify the Creator just because! I dare you! I double dog dare you!!
Doing your Quiet Time, meditate on Psalm 33 and Psalm 148 and with the fruit of your lips praise God just because!
