He is Faithful

Sometimes, I wonder if my Savior has forgotten me. If I pay too much attention to what’s not going right, what’s not working out, and how my life is not going the way I think it should go, I find myself behaving like a fatherless child. I allow my emotions to take over and make me feel like my Father doesn’t see me nor does He have a clue about what I’m going through. But He does.

I have a Heavenly Father who does see me. He knows me and knows what I’m going through. Not only does He see and knows, but He cares. He has not abandoned me; neither has He forgotten about me. He’s with me, always. Nevertheless, there are times when I find myself in a crisis and these feelings of uncertainty resurface.

PSALM 42:9 Sometimes I ask God, my rock-solid God, “Why did you let me down? Why am I walking around in tears, harassed by enemies?” (MSG)

PSALM 77:7-10 Has the Lord rejected me forever? Will he never again be kind to me? Is his unfailing love gone forever? Have his promises permanently failed? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he slammed the door on his compassion? (NLT)

In today’s passages, the sons of Korah (Ps. 42) and Asaph (Ps. 77) express their weariness and deep longing for God to rescue them. Their emotions and what they were experiencing made these worshippers questioned whether God was with them or had abandoned them.

When we’re having difficulties, why do we begin doubting factual matters? Why do we doubt what we know is real? We ask questions like, Does God care? Does He see me? Will He answer or come through for me? Has He forgotten about me?

How come we seem to act irrational when the wind blows hard and the rain pours down? For some reason when we face hardships, we get amnesia. We start talking silly, and questioning God’s faithfulness to His children. He’s always faithful. We forget what His Word says and what He has promised us. We fail to recall what God has done for us in the past, and how He’s come through for us time and time again. He always does.

PSALM 77:11-12 But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works. (NLT)

While traveling through this place – that’s not our home – we are going to encounter tough times. You and I will face heartaches, afflictions, and disappointments that will weaken us to the core. There will be some things that will try to divert our walk with Christ. Be that as it may, we must maintain our focus. Find strength, joy, and peace in God’s Word. The Bible reassures and reminds us to keep trusting in a God whose mercy and love never runs out. No, God will never forsake us. He’s our Father who will never leave us (Heb. 13:5b-6; Deut. 31:6,8; Ps. 118:6).

PSALM 42:11 Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again- my Savior and my God! (NLT)

My sister let us open the Holy Scriptures and be reminded about our Father’s faithfulness towards His children.

Your sis,

Rhovonda
