Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. (Prov. 22:6, NLT)
Oh, Lord, as mothers, we humbly come to You today. Lord, we want to thank You for our children. Thank You for allowing us to be a mother. Thank You for giving us this assignment, for we know it’s not an easy job nor should we take this job lightly. Thank You for believing in us and trusting us with such wonderful gifts. Our children are gifts from You. Help us to cherish them, to love them, to raise them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from You. Help us instill in them Your Holy Word and to be examples for You.
As mothers, we bring our children to Your holy throne. And we call their names out to You one by one. Have Your way in our daughters’ lives. Have Your way in our sons’ lives and our grandchildren’s lives. Show Yourself strong in their lives. We want them to know You personally, as their Heavenly Father, as their Savior, as their all in all. We want them to know You intimately, as their Creator who sees and knows everything about them. Indeed, Father, You know the of hairs on their heads. You know them through and through. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to them. Let them know You on a deeper level, not by what they’ve heard us say, but by their own personal experience with You. Let them experience Your greatness!
We know that we cannot be with our children 24/7, but You sure can. You are with them everywhere they go. They cannot escape Your presence. May our children know they can always count on You. You are their Mother, Father, Friend, Protector, Provider, Savior and God, and so much more. You are their hopes, desires and dreams. You are there when everyone else walks away. You are their steady Rock and their firm foundation!
Lord, show us how to leave a legacy of You to our children and our children’s children. Show us how to share Your Word to them. Help our children see the importance of having Your Word grounded and rooted in their hearts. Show us how to be Your examples, Godly mothers, who not only read the Word, but live by the Word. Show us how to be doers of the Word so that our children can see You in us. Show us how to point our children to You, be a living testimony of Your goodness, Your faithfulness, and Your glory. Father we know that if our children know You as their Heavenly Father, know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, then that’ll be the best and greatest inheritance we can ever leave our children.
Father, continue to strengthen us and develop us to fulfill the assignment we have as a Mother and caretaker. We believe in all of Your promises and we stand firm on Proverbs 22:6. Believing, as they get older, Your Word and Your Spirit will draw them back to You. May our children’s love for You grow deeper and stronger as each day goes by.
Lord, we seal this prayer in our Savior’s name. Amen.
