Troubled today?

No matter what I’m experiencing in life and how my emotions may be trying to get the best of me, John 14:1 is such a beautiful comforting passage of Scripture. Whenever I read it and meditate on it, my spirit is uplifted and I am filled with so much peace.

“DO NOT let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me.” John 14:1 AMPC

God commands us in John 14:1 to NOT be distressed, troubled, fearful, or sad. Whatever it is that has us agitated and distracted, God commands us to believe in Him. We are instructed in the Bible to rely solely on God and His power despite what life throws our way. We must believe God and stand on every one of His promises.

You know, life has a way of making me do an introspection of the trust I have in God. Storms reveal to us just how much we truly trust God. Do we really have faith in Him or are we only saying the right words? When storms come it’s up to you and I to decide whether we’re going to immediately turn to God and trust His sovereignty or we’re going to panic and let our emotions take charge while relying on our own abilities. Oftentimes, I do the latter. Even though there are times when I choose not to trust God, the Holy Spirit convicts me of my foolishness and gently points me back to the Father. I praise God for His tender mercy and sweet grace!

Even though we may struggle with trusting God completely and being faithful to Him, He doesn’t stop being faithful and merciful to us. What a loving God we serve! Rhovonda L. Brown

Has life happened? Are you in a storm, struggling to trust God? Are you surrendering to your fears, anxieties, and emotions? What distractions are pulling your attention away from God?

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 NKJV

Perhaps you are in need of encouragement and need to be reminded of God’s faithfulness and promises. May I encourage you today? I want to point you to our sweet Savior, Jesus Christ. Turn your eyes back to Jesus. He wants you to trust Him. Even if you have some doubts and running on a little faith, keep looking at Him. Don’t let your fear or doubt turn your attention away from God. Even though we may struggle with trusting God fully, He doesn’t stop being faithful and merciful. Hallelujah!
