The Adversary

Satan means adversary in Hebrew. The description of adversary is a person, group, or force that opposes or attacks; opponent; enemy; foe (Dictionary.com). Satan, the adversary, is our opponent. He’s an attacker. He goes around looking to attack the weak and the strong. He’s a bully. He’s an antagonist. He’s a liar. He’s an accuser. He’s a troublemaker. He’s evil. He’s a tempter (Matt. 4; Mark 1; Luke 4).

Satan is the Christian’s enemy who sets traps, ambushes, plots, and schemes to make us fall, and he wants us to fall victim to them all! He watches us as we stumble and he enjoys it. And when we fall, he wants us to stay there in that fallen state because he is the fallen angel. He wants us to be just like him. So he tells us things that he thinks will keep us down. He says things like:

I knew it! I knew it! I told you so! You’re always messing up. So, why try? Look at you, you never get it right. You’re consistently asking God for something when you know you don’t deserve it. You’re always crying out to God for help. He’s tired of you and your mess. He’s tired of saving you. Why try when you will only fail again? You know it’s too hard. So, you might as well give up! Quit trying and save your tears! God is tired of you. He’s tired of listening to you. You keep letting Him down, that’s why He has given up on you. He’s not going to answer you.

The enemy cannot stand unity nor does he likes relationships.

Our adversary repeatedly speaks all kinds of negative words into our minds. Why? Because he wants us to believe them! Satan wants us to believe his lies.

Since he can only be at one place at a time, he sends his demonic angels to do his bidding (Matt. 12:24-26; Matt. 25:41; Rev. 12:7, 9). He’s the mess maker. He and his demons cause all sorts of confusion, stir up trouble, and anarchy. The enemy cannot stand unity nor does he likes relationships. He comes to divide, separate, pull apart, conquer, and destroy. Every day he wages war with the believer. If there’s discord and bickering, his job is being accomplished.

1 Peter 5:8, New Life VersionKeep awake! Watch at all times. The devil is working against you. He is walking around like a hungry lion with his mouth open. He is looking for someone to eat.

Satan represents the very opposite of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord is Love, Truth, Purity, Holiness, Perfect, Grace, Friend, Peace, Strength, Victory, Joy, and so much more. The adversary’s goal, his desire, his job is to do and be the opposing foe of our Savior Jesus.

If we take notice, we will be able to discern between what is of God and what is of the adversary. Therefore, my sister, we must stay on guard and stay alert! We have to be prepared, geared up, equipped, and ready at all times (Eph. 6:10-19)! We need wisdom from God which can be found from studying the Scriptures and spending time with our Father. We must stay in prayer mode and we must fast (Matt. 17:14-19). Just like “there’s no crying in baseball”, there’s no place for quitters and wimps in this Christian race! We are winners! We do not quit!!

Today is another day to be a witness to God’s awesomeness and might! Be clear-headed. The enemy will try us today. Stay on guard and stand firm. We must fight him with the WORD OF GOD!!

Your sis,

IT’S WEDNESDAY, HUMP DAY. HERE’S A BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE TO HELP US GET OVER THE HUMP!

Ephesians 6:10-11 New American Standard Bible “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
